Viridian is providing landscape architecture for Grady Health System’s new Estoria Urgent Care Center along the Memorial Drive corridor in Atlanta. The firm’s work supports the transformation of a long-vacant commercial property into a welcoming neighborhood healthcare destination. Landscape services include site and streetscape planting, tree protection and replacement planning, parking-area screening, shade-tree placement, pedestrian-environment improvements, irrigation design, and coordination with the architect, civil engineer, and City of Atlanta review agencies.

The landscape approach emphasizes durable, low-maintenance plant materials suited to the urban setting while creating an attractive arrival experience for patients, visitors, and staff. Strategic planting helps soften and screen the surface parking area, strengthen the Memorial Drive and Estoria Street frontages, and integrate the new healthcare facility into the surrounding Cabbagetown and Reynoldstown neighborhoods.

The Grady Estoria Urgent Care Center will extend Grady Health System’s urgent-care services into the Memorial Drive corridor near Cabbagetown, Reynoldstown, and the Atlanta Beltline. The new freestanding facility is planned for the corner of Memorial Drive and Estoria Street on property formerly occupied by Cummin Landscape Supply that had remained vacant for several years. The approximately 5,400-square-foot medical facility is designed to provide more convenient access to immediate care within a growing intown community. 

The compact urban project includes a new healthcare building, pedestrian walks, patient and visitor parking, landscape screening, site furnishings, irrigation, and supporting utility and stormwater infrastructure. Viridian’s landscape design helps balance the operational requirements of a busy outpatient healthcare facility with the need for a comfortable and approachable patient environment. Trees and planting frame the building, define pedestrian routes, improve shade and visual comfort, and help the new development respond appropriately to its prominent neighborhood location. The design also includes a public-art component along Estoria Street, where a proposed mural creates a recognizable neighborhood-facing element and adds visual interest to the healthcare campus. Landscape improvements along this edge help connect the artwork, architecture, and pedestrian environment into a cohesive public frontage.
